Websites to please your
visitors
This web site, www.davidharvey.biz
is about creating web sites which get visitors for you. This
makes my websites different from 98 percent of the other
web sites out there, which small businesses pay for and then
find their sites
attract no traffic at all.
Having no visitors to your site means it doesn't bring you
any prospective customers (prospects), and having no prospects
means you're not bringing in new business.
So I'd argue that there's no real point to having a web
site up on the internet unless it can attract it's own
visitors. Some people like to call this free
traffic, but there really is no such thing as free
traffic any more than there's such a thing as a free
lunch...
You see, you have to pay for traffic one way or the other,
either by working at getting traffic yourself or by
buying traffic from somebody else who's done the work
already.
It's easy enough to buy traffic. You can open an account
with Google and pay for traffic to be sent to your website...
and the first visitors can be arriving at your website in less
than one hour. This is called Pay Per Click or PPC traffic. It
works well if you can buy your visitors cheaply and make enough
sales income to turn a profit. But you have to know what
you are doing. I've done it, and it works well for certain
products. I can brief you about it and help you get set up if
you wish.
Getting 'free' traffic is much harder, but it's great in the
long run. You get the traffic by having sufficient unique and
valuable information on your website that people start to use
it in order to get that information from your web pages.
This means you need a website with dozens of pages of
useful text information... maybe even more. It should be
original, well-written information about what you or your
business does, and how you do it. This helps establish you as
an expert authority.
When you have set your site up right and
gotten your pages indexed in the main search engines (Google,
Yahoo and MSN), then these search engines will
send visitors to you.
The visitors find what they're looking for, so they are
happy.
The search engines have made their visitors happy, so the
search engines are pleased with you and your website.
And with enough regular traffic to your web site, you can
make money. It may only be a few cents per visitor, but with
enough visitors that small percentage can become a significant
income.
